I honor and accept all parts of myself.

Hi, my name is Angie. I’m a movement and mindfulness teacher, dog walker and wife (among other things) but most importantly today, on World Mental Health Day, I’m unapologetically me - a 41 year woman who, for the majority of my life, has struggled with mental health challenges - eating disorder, binge drinking, body image, panic attacks and at times a dysregulated lifestyle.

I believe my ongoing healing, understanding and growth is part of my experience, story and life’s work.

I haven’t always been comfortable sharing my story because of not feeling good enough, smart enough or generally just ‘enough’ -  “…what will people think,” “…who does she think she is,” and so on.

I believe that rather than hide, resist or control, I have a responsibility to share, even if it’s just helping one person not feel alone. I know the pain of feeling ashamed, alone, or like no one will understand.

Instead of withdrawing or hiding, I feel empowered to share what’s really going on - to speak the truth, no matter how messy.

A friend of mine recently said “we’re in this together” and, in that moment, those words spoke directly to my inner critic.  I suddenly felt ease in my body and calmness in my mind, like I could focus & breathe again.

How can we continue to come together and support one another?

If you are struggling silently or know someone who is, please ask for help or offer to hold the hand of the person who is in need.

When we rise up and elevate one another, we’re shifting our mindset, evolving, and creating space for vulnerability and gentleness without judgment. We collectively build a world where mental health is a priority and not a burden.

A prayer for those struggling:

“I honor and accept all parts of myself.  My mental health is a part of who I am. I work daily to care for my mind with compassion, curiosity & connection.  I feel peace of mind when I speak my truth & give voice to my vulnerability.  I am not alone in my journey & feel a radical sense of freedom when I share my story unapologetically.  Thank you for revealing to me the light within, I feel guided and supported to take the next step forward.”
