natural pace

What’s your natural pace? How do you lean in and allow it to guide you toward inner peace and self-acceptance?

"Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

I’ll be honest: this week’s musing had me spinning—not because of writer’s block, but because I had several threads I wanted to share-–something felt off. I needed clarity, so I decided the best thing for my body and mind was movement. And that movement? A brisk run.

(As a side note, I often find that my best insights come when I'm in nature—whether it is active like running or more sedentary like observing mother nature. Funny how that works, right?)

So I bundled up, slipped on my gloves and sneakers, and headed out the door. The air was crisp, the sun kissed my cheeks, and I felt alive—though a bit lethargic since this was my first run in weeks, thanks to the frigid Midwest temps. As I hit the pavement, the thought crossed my mind: “This is hard. Maybe I should turn around and head back to my cozy home.” But my feet had other plans, so I followed their lead.

By the time I hit my first mile, my body and mind began to adapt to the rhythm. I felt discomfort, joy, and the rush of energy as I moved forward. This is a practice in honoring my natural pace, I realized—whether on a run or in life’s seasons.

The inspiration came quickly. By the time I hit mile two, the entire email had already formed in my mind. How is it that by simply giving myself space to listen—to God, the universe, or whatever you believe in—I found a deep sense of connection, peace, and freedom? When we honor our natural pace, both physically and mentally, we align with what’s meant to come through. We don’t force, we don’t push—we allow. And in that space of allowance, I felt growth, joy, and a clearer understanding of what it means to thrive—not just survive.

It’s easy to bypass or dismiss our needs when we’re in a hurry. But what I’ve realized is when I listen, when I honor my pace, I discover what I truly need. Some days that is slowness, softness, and stillness. Other days it’s focus, energy, and inspiration. Both are valid. There is no right or wrong—only what works for you.

I believe we all have an inherent ability to trust our inner wisdom, our gut, to help move through life with clarity and presence. As my yoga teacher often says, "There is power in the pause." I couldn’t agree more.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for being here. And if you only made it to the first sentence and skipped to the bottom, that’s okay too. I appreciate you. Whatever you needed to take away from this musing, I hope it supports you in the week ahead. Remember—your pace is yours to set. Listen to it, honor it, and know that every day is different—just like a run. Some days the pace is slow, some days fast. It’s all part of the journey.

So, my question for you this week is: What’s your natural pace? How do you lean in and allow it to guide you toward inner peace and self-acceptance?

You are deserving of the life you dream of.

Prayer for Honoring Your Natural Pace:

My alignment is the key to honoring my natural pace. I rest when needed, restoring myself to my most vibrant self. I hold space for myself, so I can hold space for others. Every step I take brings me closer to living the life of my dreams. I honor and respect my natural pace.

With love & encouragement,
Angie

PS: I have two things I’d love to share with you. First, a beautiful read: Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times by Katherine May. Second, if you’re feeling called to explore your inner world with a coach, I’d love to support you. I have a few openings for coffee chats this week—30-minute calls to connect, see each other, and simply create space for you to unfold with compassion and trust. No fixing, just being.
